Terms and Conditions
The Page layout
The first printed page you will see when you open your book (called page 2, once the file has been assembled as a pdf). If your book is set up as a double sided the back of this page 2 becomes page 3. Each page has 2 sides. 20 pages double sided, requires 40 different designed pages in your pdf.
20 page single sided book will contain 20 physical pages (printed on one side)+cover. The final exported PDF will have 21 pages in total.
40 page double sided book will contain 20 physical pages (printed on 2 sides)+cover. The final PDF will have 41 pages in total.
We print from the finished PDF. The PDF layout must be:
- 1st page – Front Cover;
- 2nd page – First Right printed page;
- 3rd Page First Left Printed page;
- 4th page 2nd Right Printed page, and so on from there.
Any variations to your PDF that require us to alter the PDF will incur a file handling charge of $35 plus GST plus any additional design time that is required at $132 inc gst. This includes but is not limited to:
•The creation of a different front cover from 2 different files
• Combining more than one file to make one book
• Changes to the PDF in anyway.
• Photographic effects to improve or change the photos
• Removal or addition of text
• Scaling, resizing the PDF
• Removal or addition of pages
PDF specifications
A3 & Elegance books are to have bleed of 3mm on all sides. Gutter: 20mm (suggested for text - images will bleed into spine).
US Letter books have no bleed, however please keep in mind that up to 3mm from all sides may be trimmed off during the binding process, therefore it is recommended that the text and image area be 5-10mm less than the page size on all sides. Gutter: 20mm (suggested for text - images will bleed into spine). We accept PDF’s from all major page layout programs including Aperture, Quark Xpress, Adobe InDesign, iPhoto, Adobe Photoshop Album.
It is your responsibility to ensure correct file layout.
We accept no responsibility for quality or layout errors. File handling fee of $35 inc gst if the PDF is required to be manipulated or changed in any form.
Providing your own files.
We accept any PDF that conforms to the listed settings. Any alterations or checking of files that are created by programs other than iPhoto v5 or v6 on the Macintosh or Adobe PhotoShop Album 2.0 on PC will be charged at our hourly rate. Pagination and sizing is entirely your responsibility, if you produce the incorrect file you will be charged.

Disclaimer
Digital Da Vinci is not responsible for any errors or omissions in the PDF, we print what you give us. Digital Da Vinci is not responsible for the colour reproduction of your photographs. Colours vary from computer to computer. It is your responsibility to colour correct your photos.
Apple’s iPhoto program will warn you if the image is not suitable for printing by showing the symbol below. We can print these photos at an inferior resolution, however it is entirely at your own risk, and we will not be liable for the results.
Checking your book
When we receive your book we assume that the book is setup correctly. We check for postscript file integrity only, to ensure that your file will actually print what you have delivered. We do not check the content of your book. Content checking of the book will incur the file handling charge.
Shipping
Premium Shipping Service (Australia). We ship in Australia using Australia Post Express Post. This allows the products to be tracked to the Post Office level. Product ship overnight to the Express Post defined boundries. It is not a door to door courier service. A full list of Express Post terms and conditions is available http://www.auspost.com.au/ Areas outside of the Australia Post Express Post delivery network will take longer than overnight as defined by Australia Post Terms and Conditions.
Economy Shipping (New Zealand/International). We ship to New Zealand & Internationally using regular mail services. This does not allow tracking of the photo book. If you choose this option and the product is lost, then we are not able to replace your Photo Book.
Premium Shipping (New Zealand/International). Express Post to New Zealand & International locations is a more expensive but allows tracking and we will provide free replacement of your book if it is lost.
Shipping using a courier other than Australia Post may incur a charge depending on location or requirements of the courier.
Warranty
We will replace your book on a return to depot, basis for production flaws that are a result of the production process. We will not replace books that have mistakes that are the fault of the customer. Warranty is on a return to depot basis. Freight costs are not covered by warranty.
